This site contains information about help available to computer beginners in San Diego County.
Public Libraries
Most public libraries have computers connected to the Internet.
Generally library personnel are very busy and can give only very limited help to people accessing the Internet.
However, written instructions are normally at these computers to help beginners get started.
Only libraries that have computer classes or volunteers who tutor beginning computer users are listed on the "Help for Computer Beginners" web site.
Such classes and tutoring depend on the availability of volunteers and change frequently.
To get locations and hours of all public libraries:
If outside of the City of San Diego, go to this San Diego County Library web site at
http://www.sdcl.org/branches.html.
However, this site does not include information for cities that have their own public libraries such as Chula Vista, Escondido and Oceanside.
ROP Classes
Throughout the Public School listings you will see references to "ROP."
This refers to San Diego County's Regional Occupational Program, which provides tuition free job training classes.
Information about these classes is on the Internet at http://www.sdcoe.k12.ca.us/rop
The "Map" references shown for the help addresses are to Rand McNally's Thomas Guide for San Diego County.
